WiFiDiary
2012

WiFiDiary is a tool for chronicling one's movements and travels, through the lens of different wifi networks. This script checks to see if you are in a new location by looking at when your SSID changes, and then snaps a picture of you in that new locale.

The images get stored locally with a timestamp and the SSID name, but there's an optional tumblr plugin that auto-posts the images and SSID's to tumblr.

This project came out of the Snaphack hackathon at CMU's Studio For the Creative Inquiry. A big thanks to Golan Levin for facilitating this event, and to Kyle McDonald for some help writing bash.
